Deepa Paniselvam

Deepa Paniselvam is a licensed counsellor with over 15 years of experience supporting individuals, families, and communities through trauma, displacement, and complex life circumstances. She brings a compassionate, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive approach shaped by her counselling experience and humanitarian work.

Deepa has extensive experience with an international nongovernmental organization, supporting refugees and displaced populations across Asia. Her work in trauma-informed psychosocial support, safeguarding, and frontline staff training continues to inform her practice.

She supports clients experiencing trauma, grief, anxiety, life transitions, migration-related stress, identity challenges, and relational difficulties.

Experienced in individual and group counselling, psychological assessment, and crisis intervention, Deepa integrates structured, insight-oriented, and evidence-based approaches to help clients build coping strategies, strengthen resilience, and improve emotional regulation.

Deepa also brings leadership experience in crisis response and programming into her approach, including leading multidisciplinary teams, developing safeguarding frameworks, and integrating mental health principles into large-scale service systems.

She holds a Master’s degree in Counselling and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology (Honours) from HELP University, and is a registered and licensed counsellor with Lembaga Kaunselor Malaysia. She is trained in grief therapy, safeguarding, gender and intersectionality, and change management.

Fluent in English, Bahasa Malaysia, and Tamil, Deepa works with clients from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds, creating a safe and inclusive therapeutic space.
